What Is Mike's TEAM?
Mike’s TEAM is an academic mentoring program designed for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
There are currently two Chapters of the Mike’s TEAM program:
the MCLF Chapter and the WFS Chapter.
The MCLF Chapter is supported by the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation and utilizes community members as volunteer mentors. Meetings take place in the Three Pete’s Learning Center at the Clarence Fraim Boys & Girls Club.
The WFS Chapter is supported by the Wilmington Friends School and provides Club kids with volunteer student mentors from the Upper School. Meetings take place in the Achievers Learning Center at the H. Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club.
During the summer of 2015, Mike's TEAM also supported summer programming at the H. Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club, in partnership with Wilmington Friends School, and the New Castle Boys & Girls Club, in partnership with The Tatnall School.
We are recruiting mentors for the MCLF Chapter Class of 2017!
All you need is one hour per week and a desire to help a young person reach his or her full potential.
The class of 2017 begins in September, 2016 and all meetings take place Monday through Thursday, between 3:00 - 7:00 PM. We have slots open each hour, so we are able to accomodate almost every schedule.

What Does a Mike's TEAM Mentor Do?
Each Mike’s TEAM MCLF Chapter mentor is a volunteer from the community who donates his or her time to help a young person at the Clarence Fraim Boys & Girls Club succeed. He or she attends a training course courtesy of Connecting Generations, an organization dedicated to screening and training volunteer mentors. He or she must also agree to be fingerprinted by the State of Delaware, which will be paid for by the Mike's TEAM program.
During the school year, student and mentor members of Mike’s TEAM meet once weekly for a one hour session. Together, they work on homework, academic drills, and other fun projects. Each session includes an optional lesson plan or activity that addresses the student’s academic or personal needs. A Mike’s TEAM staff member is always available on-site for support and assistance.
Our WFS Chapter Mentors are students from the Wilmington Friends Upper School. They visit the H. Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club twice per week and participate in group mentoring. There are 3 eight-week sessions during the year, each serving a different age group from our club. WFS students get over 50 hours of community service during each eight-week session!
During the summer of 2015, some of our WFS mentors helped implement a technology program for summer camp participants from the Club; they created stop-motion films together.
